My Social Media Tips Part 1 5th November, 2013
I love Facebook and am addicted more than the average person you could argue. I love that it allows me to keep in touch with my family and friends back home in Oz – images of the Kiddiewinks pulling their latest funny faces are uploaded instantly so that their Aunty, Poh Tou (Granddad) and Mae Tou (Grandma) can see when they wake up on the other side of the world.
Personal use aside, as a business tool it has been a brilliant source to help boost and complement me as ThatFacepainter.
Over time (when I get the cogs working and brain to function) I hope these little anecdotes will help give you some kind of insight or even food for thought. I’m not claiming to be an expert in any of these fields, so I won’t be covering anything too technical or in depth such as privacy settings etc. These platforms have been used by me and they have worked fabulously in various ways for me as a business.
To kick things off, it may be worth noting that if you haven’t collectively gathered all your unique URLs (the identifying username in the web address) via all those Social Media platforms, it would be ideal to do so (usually found in ACCOUNT SETTINGS) as it’ll be a lot easier to guide people to where you are on Facebook, Twitter etc. It’s like saying to someone, I’m in the Yellow/White Pages without a hint to what letter you should look under. What I mean is, after you type in www.facebook.com there’s usually a forward slash followed by something: for example it would look like this www.facebook.com/thatfacepainter if you haven’t obtained your unique URL on Facebook it would look more like www.facebook.com/6549871335.thatfa. So if you can, get your URLs. It makes marketing yourself so much easier.
If you have any questions please feel free to leave a comment or drop me a message if possible and I’ll try and help where I can.
